Panasonic Makes Celine Dion Bearable
September 18, 2008

Normally, I frantically change the radio station whenever that Titanic theme song starts blaring.
But listening to Celine Dion belt it out over Panasonic's latest DMP-BD35 Blu-ray player, plus the manufacturer's new AV receiver, made it sound like a whole new tune. On Thursday, Panasonic spent the day demo-ing its products in elite 7.1 surround sound to media types in Los Angeles.
Execs specifically showed off Celine's A New Day Blu-ray Disc, as well as a Maria Carey song off one of her albums.
Although the visuals and audio were perfection or darn near it...part of me wonders how feasible it is for people to be able to set up their home theater systems in such luxury fashion. I couldn't help but think that my apartment living room can barely hold two speakers - completely unsuitable to capture 7.1 surround sound.
But not everyone lives in Los Angeles, where buying a good-sized house even in a down real estate market can be a challenge.
I guess I can always stop by my local Best Buy every once in awhile if I want to enjoy future Celine Dion demos!
